The number of people coming to town affects more than just business.
Homecoming in Stillwater is the time when University Avenue fills with people taking in the glorious home décor built by various Greek houses rather than the many cars passing by.
Not far from all the festivities are two apartment complexes, Midtown Stillwater and One on 4. As one of the names suggests, these apartment complexes are off his 4th Avenue with easy access to University Avenue. With the massive influx of people to Stillwater, Midtown and One on 4, it’s quickly drawing attention, especially when it comes to hosting tours.
One on 4th employee Kaylen Heath, who worked at One on 4th last homecoming weekend, agrees that the situation at the two apartments is very similar.
“Homecoming brings in so many people that parents and alumni come in and everyone wants to be adventurous and see the place,” said Heath. There’s no doubt that it’s increasing in. People are like, “Let’s see next year’s housing.” A lot of the freshmen are pretty busy bringing their families early on Thursdays and Fridays to come for tours, so the whole day was crammed with people calling about prices and people coming for tours. That kind of thing. I live out of town and have a lot of family in town so of course the whole lobby is crowded. “
OSU Jr. Madison Paul is an employee of Midtown, Stillwater. With all the festivities going on, she noted, the volume usually increases when Homecoming kicks off.
“A lot of people bring their friends to Midtown,” said Paul. “People are always walking down the street because there are houses and other buildings at the end of the street.”
Midtown celebrates its return home in a unique way each year. Your social media pages will run giveaways and prizes for those who join from your Instagram page. The lucky winner of this year’s award received his OSU football jersey with a water bottle.
It may seem like a difficult time for everyone coming to the venue, but both are finding ways to look on the bright side of the situation and enjoy the festivities that accompany the grand event.
