Jasper Community Arts is pleased to present the work of award-winning Louisville, Kentucky artist Bob Lockhart at the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center in November and December.
Lockhart’s solo exhibition is a mixture of 2D drawing and 3D sculpture.
Bob Lockhart is an award-winning sculptor whose work is in permanent collections such as the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Speed Museum in Louisville and the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
In addition, Lockhart’s work has been commissioned by the Louisville Zoo, many churches and schools, and private collectors. Several of his sculptures adorn the campus of Bellamine College in Louisville, where he is a professor of art. They include the school’s symbol, the 14-Foot Knight, and the Holy Family portrait of Our Lady of the Forest Chapel. His 10-foot casting of the Bellarmine statue will soon be given a prominent place on campus.
Lockhart has been teaching at Bellarmine for more than 40 years, guiding students in the creation of art and turning their attention to social justice issues on annual trips to Guatemala and Appalachia.
Originally from Oak Park, Illinois, he holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Art Institute of Chicago.
The Lockhart exhibition will run from November 3rd to December 29th, 2022. The Gallery Talk will be held on Friday, December 2nd at 5:30 PM, during the Holiday Reception from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. public.
The Thyen-Clark Cultural Center gallery is located at 100 3rd Avenue, Suite A, Jasper, IN 47546 and is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm and Saturday from 10am to 5pm. increase. 2:00 p.m., noon to 3:00 p.m. on Sundays.
