“We want to use sports as an outlet for them here,” said Athletic Director Heather McCulloch. “Two hours in the pool without solving calculus, and not having to wear a McDonald’s uniform and have his mother yell at him for not taking out the trash. Those are times of comfort and rejuvenation. .”
“Achieving success at this level requires a certain mindset and resilience that you have to be prepared for when you go into the game,” he said of the community in Nassau County, Long Island, where sports and his culture are intertwined. “We have a whole season ahead of us. Building that type of fighting back mindset is great for being successful in life.”
Defending Conference Champion Baruch is off to a strong start to his 2023 campaign. The Bearcats are looking to win his 3rd straight CUNYAC title and his 10th title in the last 13 seasons.
