After Tennessee beat Alabama last week to become a legitimate domestic title contender in this year’s Game of the Year contenders, the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches pole has been pretty steady this week, with the top six teams remaining the same.
Georgia remains in first place, while the Ohio State Buckeyes remain in second. Tennessee passed Michigan’s Wolverines to move into his No. 3 position, but Clemson remains in No. 5 after avoiding a loss at the hands of the now No. 16 Wolverines. Syracuse Orange.
The rest of the Top 10 is where we see the first few Big 12 teams moving to 7th place after TCU’s win over Kansas State and Ole Miss’ loss to LSU. Oklahoma State beat a once-ranked Texas team at home Saturday afternoon, returning to the top 10 and placing him ninth.
The Texas team ranked 21st, just outside the top 25. The Longhorns received the most votes of any unranked team, landing just outside the top 25.
Elsewhere, Kansas State, who gave Oklahoma their first loss of the season, fell from 17th to 22nd after losing to the Horned Toads.
In related news, former Oklahoma Sooners Shane Beamer, Spencer Rattler and Austin Stogner made it into the top 25 after winning against Texas A&M.
Oklahoma faces the Iowa State Cyclones next week and heads to Ames to face Matt Campbell’s team.
