Champaign, IL (WAND) – The Champaign Public Library has officially announced the expansion of its after-school services for teens.
The Studio is an 8,000-square-foot extension that includes a recording studio, computer lab, gaming area, and more for teens to explore their creativity.
“Every day after school, we see between 160 and 200 teenagers coming to our after school activities. By exploring the space of our levels and expanding our offerings, we are able to enhance and innovate what is available to our community,” said Librarian Director Brittany Millington.
Millington said the facility will also be open to adults.
“While it will be used primarily for after-school teen activities, we will host classes, programs, workshops, and more for adults to have the opportunity to be in this space and explore their craft,” Millington said. increase.
This expansion has the potential to provide teenagers with a variety of experiences that will help them in the future.
“I think there’s a real opportunity for students to experience what can be an entrepreneurial and innovative idea that can be explored as a college major or business idea,” said Millington. increase.
The project should be completed by summer 2023.
