Craving a new cooking show to whet your taste buds and calm your mind with delicious shots of food porn? Nailed It, Iron Chef, The Greatest British Baking Show, and many more Delicious Netlfix productsSo it’s cocktail time?

drink masters is the latest cooking contest show from the streaming giant, along with a collection of creative mixologists to bring you all the oh, oh, and awe we crave in great reality TV.

Sure, on its face, this show is about candidates making crazy concoctions to appease a panel of all the experts in spirits and booze. drink masters Audiences around the world get a glimpse of the incredible showmanship at work in some of North America’s coolest cocktail lounges. Even if you’re a regular visitor to chic speakeasies, you’ll be amazed by these cool creations. And if you’re a home mixologist like me, this show offers plenty of inspiration along with swooning shots of playful pours.

12 mixologists compete for the title of Drink Master When $100,000 prize. Their arena is a gorgeous bar, complete with a full kitchen, and plenty of gorgeous backdrops that ooze the vibe of a hip yet upscale nightspot. I also challenge myself to direct it in a way that is appropriate for the grandeur of the environment.

Their challenges range from creating dessert drinks, to tantalizing flavor combinations, to fantastic flights. But before you think, “I can do it,” consider that in Episode 1, you have 90 minutes to make a margarita. As such, mixologists pull out all the stops, along with smokers and unconventional ingredients such as the polarizing fruit durian, to create cocktails that are works of art to sip on.

of drink master Bar owners and tastemakers Julie Reiner and Frankie Solarik will be the judges in an episode that invites their famous friends to explore the history, highlights and future of cocktail making. These experts provide context for terminology and emerging movements such as the rise of mocktails. prefer canned margaritas By rocking ourselves, we can go together.

But season 1’s MVP is definitely drink mastersHost tone bell.

Cooking shows and comedians go together like peanut butter and jelly.what is it nailed it Without Nicole Byers’ infectious laughter and playful parties with judges and bakers? But for each Byers, I can name a couple of comedians who seem to resent their job of combining silliness and sweets. is it cakeMikey’s Day, crime scene kitchenJoel McHale of Great British Baking Showof Matt Lucas. But Bell is so happy to be there, and so is he!

At the beginning of the show, he not only explains the premise of the new competition series, but also says, “Of course you can sample these amazing creations and donate your own two cents.” With this moment drink masters Set Belle to come here and not do anything smart and brain-twisting.he will invigorate When his opinion to the jury. In this way, the show matches him with the contestants. But it also makes him a surrogate for our audience, a kind of normal person, who can drink these strange cocktails. Taste it and tell us what happened to them in immediately understandable language. Invite us with your senses.

Let’s talk about that style. Dressed in a bespoke suit that often bursts with eye-catching color, Bell is a dashing gentleman who escorts us through challenges. Dressed in the most glamorous way, giving each episode a touch of elegance, vibrancy, and visual splendor. He has a party-friendly personality and encourages judges and mixologists to have brief conversations with him about life and cocktails.

For example, in our first challenge, we had a cocktail that the contestants dubbed “The Fellowship.” Lord of the Ring. Belle held up a glass mug containing a beautiful drink and said, “I love this glass. I love this whole presentation. It makes me feel like I’m going to happy hour in Narnia. I mean Do you understand?”

The other judges and guests laughed in gratitude. Exactly what he meant. In a nutshell, Bell took us through the experience of being transported to a truly great cocktail, and from that point on, I knew he couldn’t stop at just one (episode of drink masters).

Personally, my favorite competition show is one that treats each other with respect, recognizing that candidates are part of a shared community. (idea showdown, success, Also forged fire.) I’m tired of all the “I didn’t come here to make friends” drama. I crave competitors whose strategy is to overcome their inner saboteurs rather than sabotage them.

Well, I can’t make any promises to all mixologists drink masters It works endlessly out of community concern. But it helps that team challenges inherently contain drama When The need for real compromise and cooperation. But I was blown away by how they help each other out, check in on each other, and cry at each other when someone is sent home after every elimination challenge.

I won’t spoil who made it to the final three, but I can say that it was a heartwarming thrill to see the contestants help each other despite having this final big buck. Of course, when reality TV ends, you return to reality. And these mixologists can come out of the speakeasy stadium as heroes or villains without being winners. One bar owner tormented me over the course of the contest, but then turned around in the next episode and made a witty comment about Milk Punch that always wins only for making Milk Punch! No one gets a terrible “villain edit”. So while there’s some tension, it’s never offensive to the atmosphere that outweighs the show’s creativity.

    drink masters Candidates get personal.

Montreal-based mixologist Tao Zurafi translates his world travels into cocktails. Meanwhile, her LP, which grew up in the Bronx, took judges on a trip to her hometown with a drink-and-plantain pairing that recalled her trips to a corner bodega for snacks. Some reflect tradition with new spins on classic cocktails, while others throw every idea into the glass: swipes of chocolate, birds of pineapple, edible gold.

Over 10 episodes, drink masters Offer your audience a crash course in cocktail culture. And at just over 30 minutes per episode, the first season flies by with intense challenges, engaging banter from a charismatic host, compelling contestants, and mouth-watering cocktails. So if you’re looking for a cozy new show, we recommend pairing this stunner with a drink you can mix and match.
