The scandalous story of former WNEP-TV anchor Marisa Burke and her ex-husband’s teenage boy will air before audiences across the country on Saturday night.
Investigation Discovery will focus on Burke’s case in the latest episode of Who The (Beep) Did I Marry?
The show airs Saturday at 10pm and is available to stream on Discovery+.
Production staff reached out to Burke shortly after she published her memoir, Checking Scores: TV Anchor Openly Disgraced by Her Husband’s Secret Life, in December.
“Now it’s starting to get national attention,” said Burke, 62.
She’s been in touch with producers of other shows, and some have suggested that her story might one day be made into a movie.
While Burke was the public face of WNEP as lead anchor, her husband, former Scranton principal Mark Kandell, was accused of inappropriate behavior toward a minor boy once in 2008 and once in 2012. was arrested twice in daughters who were in high school at the time.
In a second case, Kandel pleaded guilty in federal court to a charge of seducing a minor online and was sentenced to 14.5 years in prison. He remains incarcerated at Fort Dix Federal Penitentiary in New Jersey.
The couple’s divorce was finalized in 2014 while Kandel was in prison.

“I wrote this book because I had to come to terms with what happened. Putting my story into words helped. This book was therapeutic for me,” Burke said. said. “I will admit that there were days in my later years on Channel 16 when I was an acrimonious individual in the newsroom.
