Henry Cavill will no longer star in Netflix”the witcher,“, announced the British actor on his Instagram on Saturday.
Australian actor Liam Hemsworth has been tapped to replace him in season four of the series.
Cavill captioned his post, “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventure, and alas, I will lay down my medallion and swords for Season 4.”
It’s been a momentous week for the 39-year-old, as he revealed earlier that he’ll be returning to the DC Comics universe for reprise his role as Superman.

While announcing his departure, Cavill also revealed that Hemsworth would take on his role, writing, “In my place, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will take on the role of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent playing Geralt and with excitement to see Liam’s perspective on this most fascinating and nuanced man.”
The Briton wrote directly to the Aussie saying: “Liam my good sir this character has such wonderful depth to him take the opportunity to dive in and see what you can find.”

Although only seasons 1 and 2 have been released on Netflix, Henry Cavill will still be part of “The Witcher” in season 3. Liam Hemsworth will take over in season 4.

In turn, Hemsworth, 32 wrote a message to fans and Cavill on his own platform. He said: “As a Witcher fan, I’m thrilled at the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has been an amazing Geralt, and I’m honored to have him hand over the reins to me and allow me to take over. the White Blades of Wolf for the next chapter in his adventure. Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and have been inspired by what you’ve brought to this beloved character. I may have big boots to fill, but I’m really excited to step into the world of The Witcher.”
Although only seasons 1 and 2 are available on the streaming service at the moment season 3 will be released in the summer of 2023. There is no confirmation as to when season 4 with Hemsworth will begin filming or air.
Netflix also welcomed the actor to “The Witcher” family in a Tweet shared on Saturday as well.

Hemsworth is best known for his role as Gale Hawthorne in “The Hunger Games” trilogy.
