Persity — Heart of Pell City has big plans to bring new fun to Christmas for the fifth year in a row, and this group of elves is excited to announce their plans for 2022.
There are garlands to tie, magnificent giant ornaments to hang, lots of sparkles and lights and all kinds of cheers waiting for the seasonal sensations.
But, as any elf knows, there’s something to be done first. Now is the time to put your busy hands to work to deliver the brilliance of the season.
Members are ready to remind you that the old adage that “many hands do light work” is real and your holiday bash to-do list can get long.
It’s time to get involved and step up, enjoy the art of decorating, join with friends, and get the hands on the task you need to tow.
In a planning session held Wednesday, Heart of Pell City spokeswoman Gail Benefield detailed how to keep busy and how to sign up and attend the event.
Her smile was charming, telling the group’s plans and likely being contagious in uniting the people of her hometown.
There is a 20-plus-foot tree that will be placed in front of the downtown courthouse, becoming a cheering beacon for everyone passing through town.
It’s the backdrop for the city’s downtown restaurants and shops, and anyone looking at this view, whether a tourist or a local, can stop by and enjoy it.
Creating a downtown Christmas centerpiece is no easy task. Anyone with a hand can sign up and get started.
The light-up itself is scheduled for December 2nd, a week before the city’s big Christmas parade on December 7th, paving the way for all the fun that awaits.
Benefield has many projects that support nonprofit goals. There are also many ways to sponsor when you are short on time.
Volunteers guide you through dealing with trees. There is both installation and removal to consider, and each task can take several days.
It is expected to add holiday flair to downtown street corners and install brand new sleighs for everyone to enjoy and take holiday photos around.
A nativity scene is also part of the plan, with a stage that needs to be set up and assistants to keep the tree lighting extravaganza going through the night.
A cleanup crew is also a job to consider, along with many other roles that the group must fulfill.
On light-up days, downtown shops offer open house activities and all kinds of fun. Companies can compete in a window decorating event, with the winner announced at Lighting Night.
The “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” themed decorations match those selected for this year’s Christmas Parade.
A shopping table will be set up on the court grounds. These are available to registered companies. Call Bennefield at 205-401-6142 or contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Santa will come and make many rounds, listening to everyone making a wish.
The Heart of Pell City was founded to promote the city’s cultural, educational and entertainment development for family and friends, and is committed to beautifying and preserving historical interest and awareness. We also want to support development and business networking.
Benefield said membership in the group is warmly offered to all, offering volunteer time and in-kind needs as well as welcoming these.
