She created an Instagram reel to share what inspired her to create this simple yet delicious fall recipe.
“I don’t think a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte has ever been this expensive,” she said.
The price of Starbucks’ famous seasonal coffee has risen 4% since 2021, according to Today.
Tall sizes currently range from $5.45 to $5.95 depending on location.
Ramya continues:
For example, spice brand McCormick sells a 2-ounce serving of Pumpkin Pie Spice for about $10.
“I looked at the ingredient list behind the spice blend and saw that it was an ingredient I already had at home, so I just reverse engineered it,” she said.
For her hack, Ramya recorded spooning ground spices out of the original container into a small, unused Mason jar.
Only 4 seasonings needed to make.
Her homemade recipe calls for adding 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon, 2 teaspoons of ground ginger, 1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg, and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves.
In the video, Ramya actually has a whole nutmeg that she crushes in a spice grinder before adding it to the mix.
If you don’t have cloves, writes Ramya, you can use an equal amount of allspice instead. You can also add 1/4 teaspoon allspice if desired.
She then stirred the blend and closed the airtight jar. This should be worth 4 servings when combined with other ingredients to make a pumpkin spice latte.
To make the perfect PSL at home, mix 2 ounces espresso, 3/4 teaspoon spice mix, 2 tablespoons pumpkin puree, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 cup milk, and sweetener. Ramya suggests.
“Wow! Love this DIY for your fall favorite flavor,” one commented, while another wrote, “Homemade tastes probably a million times better.”
“Pumpkin spice is so easy to make, you have to try making it in small batches like this so it doesn’t lose its magic,” added another commenter.
