The secret star wars film project creatively led by Damon Lindeloff has been brought to light on Sunday night when it was revealed that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who directed two episodes of Ms. Marvelwas on board as helmsman.
The project has been in the works for months, and while Lindelof is getting a Wookiee-sized share of attention, thanks in large part to a pedigree that includes co-creating TV thrills. Lost and pilot the famous HBO series watchmenhe is by no means the only person involved in the project.

Sources say The Hollywood Reporter that Lindelof writes the new star wars screenplay with Justin Britt-Gibson, a rising young writer who worked as an executive editor on Guillermo del Toro’s vampire drama, Strainand wrote episodes of Starz The counterparta series that deals with parallel dimensions and stars JK Simmons.
Britt-Gibson, however, arrives at work after a secret (it’s always secret with star wars, right?) The writers room that started meeting after this year’s Star Wars celebration. The room held a two-week session in July and at the table was Patrick Somerville, who worked with Lindelof on Leftovers then created the buzz station eleven; Rayna McClendon, Consulting Producer for Lucasfilm Obi Wan Kenobi and writer on upcoming company events willow series; and Andy Greenwald, the creator of the 2019 crime drama Rosario Dawson Briarpatch (on which McClendon was a story editor), among a few other writers.
Dave Filoni, a protégé of star wars creator George Lucas, who is involved in many shows, may also have been present.
After breaking up the story, Lindelof and Britt-Gibson slammed the keyboards.
Sources say the film project is set to be a standalone project, but if successful, it could lead to more films. This plan goes against Lucasfilm’s earlier development process, which saw the company try to come up with new trilogies. Now the studio seems to be focusing on stand-alones.
And sources say the story would be set after the events of 2019 Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, although it wouldn’t be a sequel to the Skywalker saga. It could, however, feature some of the characters from the star wars trilogy made in the 2010s.
Disney released a star wars present a year from 2015 to 2019, but Disney CEO Bob Iger acknowledged that it was too too fast after the troubles Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) became the first star wars movie to lose money. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige is producing a movie that will be written by Lokiis Michael Waldron, while Thor: Love and Thunder filmmaker Taika Waititi has been developing his own film for over two years, with 1917 writer Krysty Wilson-Cairns writes.
As for when Lindelof’s movie might drop, December 2025 is the first date Disney has put on its calendar for a star wars characteristic.
