The 2022 Island Child Style show has something special. With about five weeks left, the runway show, dedicated to children’s collections, features 100 children, 14 local and regional designers, and two children’s designers. Her 7-year-old Logan Watkins from Kingston, Jamaica and her 14-year-old Florida-born artist and designer Leanne White. The event is held at the Port Royal Cruise Pier in Port Royal.
Renowned designer and Grammy Award-winning reggae singer Ziggy Marley will present a collection at the event as a collaborative designer with US-based children’s brand Appaman.
Island Child Style is the brainchild of parenting consultant B3 BossMom Michelle Gordon. Working with branding expert and aviation training instructor Norma Williams and international financial advisor and runway coach Brandon Ferguson, the event marks her fourth staging of the runway show. Gordon admits that young children greatly benefit from a few weeks of professional “training and mentorship.”
“This event is focused on building a Jamaican brand while fostering creativity and empowering children,” said Gordon. “Our motto is ‘The most beautiful child is the most confident child’. This is what you will discover in each of our 100 child models. Island Child Style is a fun and engaging way to At , we harness children’s self-awareness, confidence and creativity to provide them with entertainment that opens their imaginations,” she added.
The event will also host a retail village for kids, just in time for holiday shopping with designers. Other local vendors with products and services aimed at children, parenting, families and children’s lifestyles included Kadian Nicely, Shena Kirby, Mailing & Anthony Reid (Trinidad), Ziggy at the end of the show.・Works by Marley & Apaman (Los Angeles) will be featured. ), Lian White (Florida), Logan Watkins, Laila Bennett of Zilac, Theodore Elyet (Nassau), Carlton Brown, Zuribelle of Nahimana, Donna Buchannan of Nahimana, Ajya Rainwear and Accessories.
After the event, a charitable donation will be made to the Port Royal Basic and All-Age School.
