Ace Steel would have been published by AEW earlier this week. His shot seemed inevitable after accounts from backstage brawl at All out between CM Punk, Steel and The Elite included Steel throw a chair at the Young Bucks and biting Kenny Omega.
In the latest episode of his Grill JR podcastAEW commentator Jim Ross reacted to the news of Ace’s release:
“He’s a smart guy. He has great product knowledge. Solid hand. And I think he did a good job. But I didn’t work much directly with him. I saw him on TV, and he was always friendly and approachable.
“I’m sorry to hear that. I thought he was a good hand and did a good job there. But you know, things have a way of working. You never say never. But I always thought he did a good job for us. I know he was very loyal to CM Punk. Nothing wrong with that, they were buddies. And I guess CM Punk is the guy who got the job. from Ace Steel. That would be my guess…seems logical.
“I don’t know where this is all leading. I hate to see someone lose their job and lose their salary. It’s the market. While he was there he seemed like a viable asset, but again I didn’t work with him directly. I had no problem, for or against, with him. But in the end, another guy lost his job. And that is what is regrettable. »
“He’s got skills…I think if he’s shaken up well in the general wrestling landscape, he’ll find work. Smart guy. We’ll see how it works out for him. Hope it works out well. And I regret that anyone, anywhere in the struggle loses their job.
Steel’s release was the first major domino to fall since the start of AEW investigation in the fight behind the scenes of All out. What do you think will happen next in this story, Cagesiders?
