Johnny Depp wants total victory over Amber Heardand he has just filed an appeal to try to get it… claiming the jury was wrong when it ruled in favor of his ex-wife on a single count of defamation.
You’ll recall Johnny was the clear winner by far when the jury returned in their landmark trial, saying Amber had defamed him and had to pay $10.35million – but they also ruled that Amber had been defamed and awarded him $2 million.
In papers filed Wednesday in the Virginia Court of Appeals, Johnny says the jury erred ruled in favor of Amber …when he said one of Johnny’s lawyers, Adam Waldmandefamed Amber by telling a media outlet that she lied while describing an explosive fight that ended their marriage.
Waldman said: “So Amber and her friends spilled some wine and roughed up the place, got their stories straight under the direction of a lawyer and a publicist, then made a second call to 911. .”
In the appeal, Johnny argues that his attorney said that, not him, and that he shouldn’t be held responsible for Waldman’s remarks. He also says Amber’s team failed to prove that Waldman made those comments maliciously…a requirement to win a defamation suit.
Johnny wants the court to overturn the jury on that count alone. Don’t forget that Amber also has filed an appeal counts she lost.
So, Dashboard Review: Amber’s $10.35 million check to Johnny is pending, and likewise, his $2 million check to him is pending.
