“I want to apologize because God showed me by what Adidas is doing, by what the media is doing, I know what it’s like to have a knee on your neck right now,” the rapper told the paparazzi.
Kanye West spoke with paparazzi on Friday night, where he said he didn’t realize he was to be antisemitic and apologized for wrongly claim George Floyd died of fentanyl rather than Floyd being suffocated by a police officer putting a knee on his neck, which caused his death.
When the paparazzi confronted West about his anti-Semitic statements, he said he didn’t realize what he was saying was considered anti-Semitic and that after mediating with Adidas who officially broken links together with the rapper he came to certain achievements and became “humbled”. In his convoluted conversation, where he seemed to be making statements and coming back to them simultaneously, he added that “When I see this video as a black person, it hurts me. And I know the police attack and America is generally racist,” he told the paparazzi, via HipHopDX. “And I understand that when we had to say Black Lives Matter, that idea made us feel good together as a people, didn’t it?”
He added: “So when I questioned the death of George Floyd, it hurt my people,” he continued. “I want to apologise. Because God has shown me by what Adidas does, by what the media does, I know what it feels like to have a knee on your neck now.
“So thank God for humbling me and letting me know how I really felt. Because how could the richest black men ever be humiliated other than being forced not to be billionaires in front of everyone from a single comment.
Last week, West issued a non-apology for his anti-Semitic remarks in an interview with Piers Morgan.
Meanwhile, the family of George Floyd prepares a A $250 million lawsuit against West for his unsubstantiated allegations.
West’s controversial comments led to a mass exodus of brands and companies parting ways with the rapper. Talent agency giant CAA dropped him this week, and it was abandoned by the likes of Balenciagaand banking the giant JP Morgan Chase. His total wealth dropped out of a report $2 billion to around $500 million after Adidas cut ties with him.
