“As patron of The Forward Trust, I have met many people who have suffered from the effects of addiction. Attitudes towards addiction are changing.
“But we’re not there yet, and we have to be there. Yet the shame of addiction keeps individuals and families from seeking help, and people continue to lose their lives tragically.
Kate, who is mother to George, Charlotte and Louis, said society must recognize that “the only way to help those who are suffering is to try to understand what led them to addiction”.
