Korean Air has not had a passenger fatality since 1997, according to the Aviation Safety Network, a website that summarizes aviation accidents.
At the time, the airline had a poor safety record, but sought outside help from Boeing (BA.N) and Delta Air Lines (DAL.N) to improve standards.
