El Paso, Texas – A staple in the El Paso area, Western Playland Amusement Park was purchased by Traders Village Marketplace, headquartered in Grand Prairie, Texas. The latest additions are Dallas, San Antonio and Houston where he also runs three flea markets.
It has been around since 1973 and attracts millions of guests each year. Each of the three free his markets offers rides, events and thousands of vendors.
Tim Anderson, President of Traders Village Marketplace, said: “With over 60 acres and 26 rides, Western Playland is a great complement to our brand.”
Western Playland is located in Sunland Park, New Mexico since it moved from Ascarate Park in the south-central area of El Paso.
Patrick Thomson’s family has owned Western Playland since 1960, providing Borderplex residents with entertainment for the whole family.
“We are honored that Traders Village will continue the Western Playland tradition of bringing family fun to the El Paso area,” said the retiring Thomson.
Western Playland covers over 60 acres and has 26 rides for family fun. Traders Village plans to expand and feature more rides, food and drink options, concerts, and other seasonal events.
Western Playland is scheduled to reopen for the new season in late February 2023.
