East Black Panther: Wakanda Forever a worthy successor to the throne? The reactions to the marvel studios the sequel flooded social media after the black panther 2 world premiere Wednesday, where attendees were the first to witness filmmaker Ryan Coogler’s return to the kingdom of Wakanda. Following the death of King T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) and the aftermath of Avengers: Endgamethe african nation mourn their monarch as a new threat surfaces: the mutant Namor the Submariner (Tenoch Huerta). How was the Black Panther follow-up received? Judging by the social media response, early viewers seem to agree: wakanda forever will live long as another jewel in Marvel’s crown.
Charles Pulliam (The edge): “#WakandaForever has a greater scope and scale than #BlackPanther, but its story is also one of Marvel’s most intimate and heartfelt. It’s certainly a comic book movie, but it’s one that centers the grief and the grieving process rather than superheroes and the show.”
Fico Cangiano (CineXPress): “#WakandaForever is fantastic! Coogler delivers a moving and wonderful sequel that packs an emotional punch and effectively explores relevant global themes. A beautiful tribute to Boseman’s legacy. Letitia and Tenoch are awesome, and the mid-credits scene is truly moving.”
Samuel Leggett Jr.Choice of critics): “#WakandaForever is hands down the best Marvel movie since Avengers: Endgame. The scope, camera work, acting and raw emotions on and off screen can be felt throughout! is the Marvel that I missed!I had a word of it in my heart all night “WOW…”
Kevin McCarthy (ReelBlend)“WAKANDA FOREVER is a beautifully cathartic tribute to the legacy of Chadwick Boseman. It reminds us of his monumental impact and that he truly is still here with us. Great performances from Gurira, Bassett, Wright & Thorne. Huerta was AMAZING. I loved Rihannasong from & Ludwig’s score.”
Ashley Saunders (ComicBookResources): “WAKANDA FOREVER pays homage to Chadwick & T’Challa. It’s EMOTIONAL, POWERFUL AND BEAUTIFUL. Tenoch is brilliant, immediately catching your attention. Welcome to the MCU Namor. Riri is fun with Peter Parker like energy. Action, Phase 4 tie-ins, and a few surprises, I loved it.
Travis Hopson (Punch the drunken critics)“#WakandaForever is exactly the cathartic experience I was hoping for, helping us work through our grief while watching the Wakandans fight to do the same. Namor’s intro was amazing, the story bittersweet and filled with emotional twists.”
Ryden Scarnato (heroic hollywood): “#BlackPantherWakandaForever is a powerful movie and a great tribute to Chadwick Boseman. There’s never been a CBM like this. Great performances all around too. Namor’s motivations were a bit weak and I felt the run time, but it’s still near the top of Phase 4 for me.”
Sean O’Connell (CinemaBlend): “#BlackPantherWakandaForever by Ryan Coogler, above all else, is cathartic. A moving film about loss, legacy and healing. The story is intimate, yet expansive with global power struggles and palace intrigue. Namor de Tenoch Huerta is a FORCE, better than I expected. So much to discuss.”
In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from world powers intervening in the sequel to The Death of King T’Challa. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and chart a new course for the kingdom of Wakanda.
Wakanda may be without its king, but not without its protector: another character takes up the mantle of the new Black Panther to prevent Namor from waging war on the surface world. With Huerta’s aquatic antagonist, the Marvel Cinematic Universe expands with the introduction of armored hero Ironheart (Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams), Wakandan warrior Aneka (Michaela Coel) of the Dora Milaje, and the people of Talocan Namora and Attuma (Mabel Cadena and Alex Livanalli).
