Athlete of the Week:
Honest McIntyre
The Mint Hill Times sportswriters are delighted to have chosen Sincere McIntyre as Athlete of the Week. McIntyre has performed consistently for the Patriots throughout her entire season of football. He has been named honorable mention several times and earned this top honor in perhaps the biggest game of his high school career.
The senior running back had 165 all-purpose yards on Friday night against the Patriots’ archrival Butler Bulldogs. He had 36 yards rushing, 45 yards receiving, and 87 yards of punt returns. His longest was an exciting punt return of 65 yards for a touchdown to make Indy 10-0 in the first quarter. This play alone set the tone for the football game and gave his home side a lot of momentum. On the way to the end zone, Indy’s faithful exploded when he dove into an open field with speed and deception.
Playing 10 games that season, McIntyre leads the team in all-purpose yards with 1,272 (127.2) yards per game. He ran for 472 yards, 317 receiving yards, 396 yards on kick returns, and 87 yards on punts. He is a durable and versatile offensive weapon, also scoring his seven touchdowns during the season.
Honorable Mention:
emmanuel tea
The senior running back carried a heavy load in Friday night’s victory over the Butler Bulldogs. He gained his 114 yards on his 23 carries and was a staple player for the Patriots. He averaged 5.0 yards per carry and his longest rumble was 10 yards. He also contributed a big touchdown when the Patriots needed to make a big difference in a football game.
Overall, in six games this season, Tee has gained 333 yards on 62 carries for the Patriots. He’s averaging 5.4 yards per carry, and in probably the biggest game of his high school career, he rushes for over 100 yards and has three TDs. He has contributed significantly to the team’s success this season.
Finally, I want to give credit to the entire Patriots offensive line and defense. Especially in the second half when the powerful Bulldog completely shut down his offense which was very impressive. Also, kudos to our special team for a solid football game on Friday night. All in all, congratulations to the Patriots for their great team effort, as he last beat Butler in a 34-26 football game in 2014.
