Boston Mayor Michelle Wu announced Tuesday the city’s new director of tourism, sports and entertainment.
Mayor Wu announced that John Borders IV will fill the role. This has been described as the head of a “critical department” within the Economic Opportunity and Inclusion Cabinet.
“As Boston continues to grow and welcome people from all over the world, we aim to be at the heart of our community and to further emphasize its vibrancy,” Mayor Wu wrote in the announcement’s news release. We appreciate John’s commitment and look forward to his leadership in contributing to our city and ensuring Boston remains a welcoming and inclusive place for all.”
Borders IV is in a new role, fresh from a job as a principal at VTH & Madison, a Boston consulting firm.
“It is a wonderful opportunity to join the administration in this role at such an important time in our city’s history. I am excited to leverage Boston’s greatest resource, its people, to enhance the great work already being done by so many and to expand what is to come. The possibilities are endless and Boston’s best communities will be showcased like never before.”
Borders IV hails from the Dorchester section of the city. In his new post in the city, he will conduct special community-driven events, develop deeper working relationships with several institutions such as the local Chamber of Commerce, and oversee the city’s film and television productions. It’s a schedule.
