The city of North Carolina is one of the nation’s top destinations for foodies. Wake up your appetite with the new ranking show.
Asheville ranks 10th on the list of cities with top-notch restaurants and cuisine, according to results released Wednesday, January 18.
To compile this list, travel website TripAdvisor surveyed comments left by vacationers between November 2021 and October 2022. While exploring food and other categories, the website presents “accommodations, restaurants, and things to do” across the country.
Asheville was the only North Carolina city to earn a top 10 spot on the food rankings. TripAdvisor rated it as a top travel destination for its great restaurants near mountain views.
“If you’re interested in eating locally and supporting sustainable agriculture, go to Asheville and eat, eat, eat,” TripAdvisor wrote in its report. “There are 17 farmers markets in this town of less than 100,000 people, and the local restaurant scene is all about taking advantage of the seasonal produce they sell.”
For those thirsty, Tripadvisor also pointed to Asheville breweries. The mountain tourist destination recently made it onto the list of the top U.S. cities for beer drinkers, so that may not come as a surprise.
And Asheville often gets accolades for its dining scene.
Last year, Yelp named the city a top place for foodies to check out. Asheville’s restaurants also won accolades for a variety of services, including hot his chocolates and al fresco dining.
Overall, New Orleans tourist destinations ranked highest on TripAdvisor’s list. Rounding out the top five:
- Charleston, South Carolina
- new york city
- Savannah, Georgia
- Maui, Hawaii
In another list of the world’s best food cities, top honors went to Rome, Italy.
