After a brief hiatus, On Stage Vacaville is back to continue its 21-year mission. To support the city’s theater arts venues and make Vacaville a regional entertainment destination.
“Most, if not all, of our local performing arts groups have suffered tremendous financial hardship as a result of the pandemic,” OSV President Lisa Hillas said in a statement. Unlike the US, they cannot rehearse in person or perform in front of a live audience, which has devastated their revenue stream. We rely on these groups to bring to Vacaville and the surrounding area, especially children.”
During the COVID-19 pandemic, OSV held various online fundraising activities. Proceeds were used to provide grants to local arts organizations such as Bliss Urban Arts, Starbound Youth Theater, Young Artists Conservatory of Music, Vacaville Ballet Company and Solano Symphony Orchestra.
“These grants helped offset our theater rental costs and allowed us to return to the stage more quickly after the pandemic once restrictions were lifted,” Hillas said in a statement. Our ability to make a difference in our community has kept us engaged and energized to do more. We are now in a position to support a range of local performers and venues I have.”
OSV has partnered with several local organizations to host several events over the next few months. On November 13th, we will partner with the Saturday Club of Vacaville on Bingo Bonanza, the Saturday Club’s bingo fundraiser that has supported the arts of Vacaville since 1909. Tickets can be purchased online at Saturdayclubvacaville.com.
On December 10th and 11th, OSV will host its first live show since the pandemic at Journey Downtown. Jack Wright has released his Diamond homage to legendary singer/songwriter Neil, including his pop standards like “Sweet Caroline,” “Cracklin’ Rosie,” and “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers.” play. “Jack Light’s Live Concert Experience: A Cherry Cherry Christmas” will debut on December 10th at 7:00 PM, followed by his December 11th at 2:00 PM on Main His Street 308.
