PEPPER PIKE, Ohio — The Orange High School Writing Center and third graders Ethan Vincent and Anna Wolfe, who helped develop the concept for the center, were recently featured on WVIZ-TV (Channel 25)’s “NewsDepth” show on Ideastream. I was.
Under the guidance of Kathleen Frazier, students and programs received A+ awards for outstanding achievement from PBS and Ideastream.
Ideastream’s Head of Education Michael Edelman interviewed students and Frazier for a segment that aired in mid-October and is now online at ideastream.org/programs/newsdepth/a-plus-award.
Students used a strategy called the “design thinking process” to develop the concept for OHS’s Writing Center and was funded through the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation.
The OHS Writing Center also won 3rd place at the Future Problem Solving International Conference this summer.
Oran Almanac Certification
The 2021 Orange High School Yearbook was named in the top 10% of high school yearbooks nationwide, according to a school district news release.
Oran’s cover has been featured in the Herff Jones Online Showcase and Best of Portfolio publications showcasing best-in-class yearbook work by students across North America.
The 2022 Oran Yearbook is currently under review for next year’s accreditation process.
The yearbook was judged by industry experts on various design and storytelling elements.
The Oran Yearbook 2021, titled “Set in Stone”, was produced by 23 editors from two yearbook publishing classes under the direction of Erin Singel.
Portfolio prints and congratulatory certificates were presented to each featured school.
Additionally, Rachel Glazer, 2022 OHS alumnus and former Chief Photo Editor at Oran, chose one of the sports photos that appear on the eDesign login screen.

International exchange
Students from the Herning Gymnasium School in Denmark visited Orange High School for a week in October.
Students from both schools will attend soccer games for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Guardians, Cleveland Browns, OHS, Cedar Point, West Side Market, Amish Country, Cleveland Museum of Art, Sweetie Candy Company, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
They also enjoyed apple picking and pie making, a potluck dinner hosted by the Orange Boosters, a class with the host’s students, and learning American Sign Language.
This international student exchange program started in 2011. OHS students and staff advisors visit their new friends in Denmark in April.
