Stevens Point, Wisconsin (WAOW) — A local pediatric endocrinologist educates students about healthy eating habits.
Dr. Sonal Chandratre visits nine primary schools in Stevens Point and uses interactive presentations to teach the importance of ‘eating the rainbow’. According to Chandratre, the technique provides children with the nutrients they need to lead successful and healthy lives.
“If you have obesity as a child, you are at a higher risk of developing high blood pressure and having more bad cholesterol in your body,” Chandratre said. and) can have a stroke early in life.”
It recommends eating at least five fruits and vegetables of different colors each day for a balanced lifestyle. When giving these lessons to children, Chandratre explains that each color has its own “superpower”.
“Every color that represents the colors of the rainbow has its own superpower,” Chandratre said. “Because the color red has psychic powers to protect the heart, it contains certain substances that protect the heart…orange aids vision and strengthens joints and muscles.”
Students who attended the presentation received her children’s book for free to continue the message of healthy living.
