He’s a bit of a foodie and a bit of rock and roll. This week, from Musicians he catches up with MasterChef contestant Derrick Fox.
A Fort Myers native, he graduated from Estero High School and enjoyed a career as a drummer with the Naples-based rock band, the Later Days. After years of touring, Derrick recently put away his drumsticks for his other passion: cooking. He currently works as his private chef, traveling between Dallas, Fort Myers and Los Angeles, where he has competed twice on the reality cooking competition show MasterChef. Runner-up in Season 6. And in Season 12, he was tied for 7th. Derrick didn’t take home the trophy, but allocated a stint on the show for a podcast called Loser’s Bunch with Derrick Fox.
On his podcast, Derrick also gives interviews. I ran away from a reality TV contest with a drink out of a mug with a FOX emoji on it. At the end of each episode, he gives his guests a taste test. Because whether he’s making music, competing in a reality show, or his brand of desserts, he’s contemplating new creations for Epic Mega Cookie Company, Derrick is a foodie at heart. .
