A hearing will be held before the Clearwater County Planning and Zoning Commission on Wednesday, November 16 at 6:00 pm in Courtroom No. 1 in the Clearwater County Courthouse at 150 Michigan Avenue in Orofino.
In Clearwater County’s Zoning Amendment to Zoning Ordinance 35B (ZA20220116), the definition of quarry has been deleted. Soil from excavation, stripping, leveling, or other processes. Quarry – A land excavation, stripping, or excavation intended to be used to remove (1000) cubic yards or more of rock, stone, gravel, sand, overburden, or other natural material immediately or over a period of time. Earth by other processes.
As described herein, land that was initially not intended for the removal of 1000 cubic yards of material subsequently becomes 1000 cubic yards of land when the volume of all previously removed material is added together. If used in a manner that exceeds the limits or is intended to be used in a manner, with all future intentional removal of material, shall be considered a quarry and listed herein shall be regulated as follows.
