Samsung has announced that it has completed a new 5G trial with KDDI. The two companies have successfully completed a full SLA-guaranteed network slicing field trial on a live 5G standalone network.
Trials were conducted in Tokyo by Samsung and KDDI. See below for more information on this technology.
Network slicing allows you to create multiple virtual networks within a single physical network infrastructure. Each slice is dedicated to a specific application or service and serves different purposes. For example, an operator can create a low-latency slice for self-driving cars, his IoT slice for smart factories, and a high-bandwidth slice for live video streaming, all within the same network. This means that a single network can support different use cases simultaneously, accelerating the delivery of new services and meeting the customized demands of different businesses and consumers.
Toshikazu Yokai, KDDI’s Managing Executive Officer and General Manager of the Mobile Network Technology Development Division, said, “Together with Samsung, we will continue to provide the most innovative technology that enhances the customer experience.”
