Ellen Lyons is a Seattle-based artist who will exhibit her silver and gold jewelry at the Fountain Festival of Fine Arts & Crafts from Friday, November 11th through Sunday, November 13th at Booth D10.
“My passion is making jewelry. I specialize in handmade pieces,” Lyons said. “All my metals and gemstones are fair mined, fair traded and sustainably sourced. I design it into a work that is attractive to
All Lyons jewelry is handcrafted, custom made, designed and made in the beautiful Pacific Northwest of Seattle, Washington.
Lyon uses techniques to create unique textures that mimic the beauty of mountain peaks and valleys, as well as beaches and underwater patterns. There are special pieces that combine shards of glass with colored gemstones.
“The debris dates back to the time of the Roman Empire,” she said. “The shards of glass are pieces of history that I carefully preserve so that their iridescence lasts for thousands of years.”
Lyons heard about the Fountain of Fine Arts & Crafts Festival from a local vendor she met at last year’s Sedona Fall Arts Festival. She encourages her Lyons to apply for her, and from November 11th until she’s the 33rd, Lyons will showcase and sell her special collection along with many other vendors participating in the show. It’s a schedule.
Lyon’s started work with the help of another friend. This friend recommended that I enroll in the Gemologist Course at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).
“That one course hooked me forever,” Lyons said. “After taking several fabrication and design courses, I got my diploma in both diamonds and colored stones from GIA.”
Her current work is inspired by a love of language, extensive world travel, historical relics, and architectural details such as those found in Ottoman mosques.
“I am looking forward to being in Arizona, where I hope to find new inspiration for future designs,” adds Lyons. “Meeting enthusiastic clients and seeing other artists’ work is another major card for me. The landscape and geography of Arizona always amazes me.”
