On Tuesday, October 25, SDC announced the implementation of several significant projects, including new guest services, enhanced employee benefits for recruiting and retaining employees, and improvements to parking, roads and infrastructure.
Silver Dollar City, known for showcasing artisan communities that create heirloom handicrafts, announced $5 million improvements including two new Guest Experiences opening during the 2023 season.
The first is a new and expanded space where craftsmen demonstrate the use of authentic late 1880s equipment such as dovetailers, lathes and saws found through a nationwide search to replace those lost in the 2021 fire. This is Heartland Home Furnishings.

In mid-2023, the Silver Dollar City student-employee housing project will be completed. In partnership with Wisconsin-based Holts Builders, the park is building a dormitory on a site adjacent to the city. The new, three-story, dormitory-like project will house temporary season hosts participating in a variety of student work programs, including the Park’s growing intern program, Silver Dollar University City.

Dorms can accommodate up to 300 students. Standard rooms accommodate up to 4 students and feature 4 beds, individual placement, private bathroom, large refrigerator, Wi-Fi, study desk, and self-contained heating and air. Additionally, the hall features his two communal kitchens with gathering spaces and laundry facilities. Indoor and outdoor recreation areas provide open spaces for games and gatherings.
Construction will begin this winter on a project to improve SDC’s parking lots, roads and infrastructure, with a target completion date of 2024. The project will be broken up in phases, including an improved guest entrance, an additional 1,200 parking spaces for him, and an improved entrance to the car park. It also includes an enhanced pedestrian access route and new turn lanes into the park.
