Simon Cowell credits his son for saving him from his workaholic lifestyle.
The 63-year-old music mogul has eight-year-old Eric with Lauren Silverman, whom Simon credits for helping his son overcome his obsession with work.
Simon, who has had hugely successful TV shows like The X Factor and America’s Got Talent, said, “Before Eric, my life was 99 percent work. .
“I got to the point where everything was like, ‘If you’re not evaluating for this, you’re a failure,’ and I stopped enjoying what I was doing and was miserable the whole time.
“I was obsessed with beating the competition. I took it to ridiculous levels. I got really down and depressed about that.”
Simon admits that his television business consumed most of his thoughts.
He told Sunday newspaper The Sun: – Come up with silly ideas like the 6 chair challenge.
“You add something new, you change something, you change something, and the next thing you know is you’ve got this Frankenstein monster.”
Simon admits that Eric has completely changed his life and priorities in the last few years.
The TV star said, “I was really unhappy. But now that I have Eric, I don’t work through the night anymore.
“God knows what would have happened if he hadn’t come.
“It saddens me now to think of myself at this age still working until 4 in the morning, obsessed with TV ratings.
“When you think about it, it can’t be helped.”
