(WAND WEATHER) — After a week of cloudy and rainy weather in the Midwest, a low pressure system is approaching and more snow is likely in central Illinois.
The probability of snowfall in winter is determined by the location of the low pressure system.
Norther tracks have a higher chance of rain and southerly tracks have a higher chance of snow. Currently, the track of the storm remains far south, and snowfall is possible in central Illinois.
Snow is still possible Saturday night through Sunday morning when temperatures drop to around 30°C.
The potential for snow this weekend is not an impressive opportunity to see snow cover. WAND meteorologists suggest much snowfall will be less than an inch.
A solitary inch or more can occur in some communities, but after recent warming, the amount on the roads is likely to be even less. Be careful driving Saturday night through Sunday afternoon as the roads may still be smooth.
