Kottayam: Foodies in Central Kerala have reason to celebrate this week as the annual food fest is back offline after a break during the pandemic lockdown. Flavors of North Kerala and other South Indian states are brought to the Kottayam crowd with a fun evening filled with music and entertainment starting Wednesday.
Organized by Rubber Town Round Table 121, this year’s food festival will take place from January 24-29 at Nagambadom Municipal Grounds. Cooperation Minister VN Vasavan will kick off the food fest at 6:30pm. A foodie in and around Kottayam can enjoy more than 300 different dishes at 46 stalls.
This is a great opportunity to try Chettinad and Hyderabadi cuisine. The specialties of Kozhikode and Salaceries will be the highlights of the festival. Food from the local toddy shop and a variety of dosas are also available. Food Fest offers an incredible range of international cuisine, including Thai and Indonesian cuisine. Korean, Lebanese, Mediterranean, Afghan, Iranian. If you like Al Faham, Arabic grills, burgers, American food and bakery items, you can try them at various stalls.
Organizers informed that the stalls are built on platforms specially constructed to ensure cleanliness and food safety. The main entrance is on Naganbadom Bus Stand Road. Additionally, there is another entrance on the Kurian Uthup road.
Entry is restricted by pass. There are ticket counters at both entrances. Visitors are required to park their vehicles in the indoor stadium. Interestingly, a variety of entertainment and cultural programs are also arranged as part of the event. Entry to the Food Fest is from 4:30 PM to 10:00 PM.
The Closing Ceremony on January 29th will be kicked off by Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan MLA at 6:30pm. Proceeds from the Food Fest will go to the Sparsh Round Table school for students with disabilities in Parochal.
