Starship completes 1 million automated deliveries
More than 6 years after our company was founded in 2014, we are proud to announce today that we have made over 1 million automated deliveries. No other company in the world has completed so many automated deliveries, including self-driving taxis. In addition, he raised $17 million to add services to two new campuses at UCLA and Bridgewater State University (Massachusetts) in the United States. This new investment brings Starship’s total funding to date to his $102 million.

I didn’t know where the millionth delivery would take place. There are about 15-20 service areas open around the world, all with robots making deliveries every minute. Ultimately, it was made to her freshman Annika, a student named Keaton, who is studying pre-health biology at BGSU at her green in Bowling, Ohio. Annika is now part of Starship history!

Six years ago, it was unbelievable that we would reach 1 million shipments in January 2021. I wish I could have done it sooner! But having a delivery robot with a high degree of autonomy in multiple countries, where he operates 24/7, making thousands of deliveries a day and millions of miles a year, is I found it difficult. Thankfully, Starship has an incredibly talented team to help us achieve this milestone. It may have taken him six years to reach his first million deliveries, but we expect his next million deliveries to take only a few months.
Today, we’re also launching UCLA, considered one of the top public schools in the US, and delivering from restaurants like Blaze Pizza, Bruin Buzz, Lu Valle, and Southern Lights. Bridgewater State University (Massachusetts) also now offers delivery from campus restaurants such as Starbucks His Cafe and Bear’s Den.

The additional funding comes at a time of growing interest in the automated delivery industry. Contactless delivery has proven to be one of the most reliable ways to protect vulnerable people and ensure social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are proud to offer contactless food and grocery delivery during these difficult times for so many. Demand in his neighborhood has increased fivefold since the pandemic began.

Since launching our first commercial delivery service in 2018, we have continued to grow exponentially. Last year, Starship set several new delivery records within the company, to Arizona State University (ASU), University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) and UC Irvine. In addition to launching in Mountain View, CA, we also launched deliveries in Modesto, CA with our new partner, The Save Mart Companies.
If you’re interested in solving tough problems and want to make a positive impact on your community and the environment, we have several open positions, so please get in touch. We plan to grow the Starship team by about 40-50% this year alone. Let’s welcome 2021!
