The hearing began with Judge Carl Nichols saying he tended to agree with the government on sentencing guidelines.
The judge said Bannon “expressed no remorse for his actions” and failed to demonstrate that he intended to comply with the committee’s Jan. 6 subpoena.
Bannon’s attorney, David Schoen, argued there shouldn’t be a mandatory minimum 30-day jail sentence for the offence.
Nichols, however, dismissed that argument, saying the law is clear that there is a mandatory minimum of 30 days and a mandatory maximum of 12 months.
