A lot of people congratulated me today By Doozy, a festival that commemorates the special bond between brothers. The auspicious day, usually celebrated two days after him on Diwali, is observed on both Wednesday and Thursday this year due to a partial solar eclipse. Also known as ‘Bhau Beej’, ‘Bhatra Dwitiya’, ‘Bhathru Dwithiya’ and ‘Bhai Phota’, on this day, sisters perform the tika ceremony and pray for their brothers for a long, happy and prosperous life. In return, the brothers give them gifts and promise to protect and care for them.
According to astrologer Chirag Daruwalla, the auspicious time to celebrate the Bhai Dooj festival starts at 2:34pm on Wednesday and ends on Thursday between 1:18pm and 3:30pm. Pandit Jagannath Guruji told indianexpress.com, “Because of the partial solar eclipse on 25th October, Govardhamjah has been postponed to his 26th October. He moved up the date to October 27th.” Agreed.
Many people meet their siblings today, so why not treat them with a special recipe to sweeten the celebration? Here’s a quick and easy recipe from MasterChef Pankaj Bhadouria.
