Netflix has announced season 4 of the witcher, but with the caveat of a major change. For the fourth season of the hit television series, Henry Cavill will no longer play Geralt de Riv, the series’ protagonist. Rather, the role will be played by fellow Hollywood star Liam Hemsworth. As you’d expect, the change came as a huge surprise to fans who weren’t expecting Cavill, a mega fan of the show, to step down. Cavill doesn’t say why he’s leaving the role behind, but does note that the White Wolf is in good hands with Liam Hemsworth.
“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventure, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and swords for Season 4,” Cavill said in a statement released alongside the news. “In my place, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will take on the role of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent playing Geralt and with excitement to see the point of view of Liam on this most fascinating and nuanced of men. Liam, good sir, this character has such wonderful depth to him, have fun diving in and seeing what you can find.
Hemsworth added the following: “As Witcher fan, I’m thrilled at the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia,” he said in a statement. “Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honored to have him hand over the reins to me and allow me to take the reins in The Blades of White Wolf for the next chapter of his adventure. Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have big boots to fill, but I’m really excited to step into the world of The Witcher.”
the witcher Season 3 is slated for release in the summer of 2023. When season 4 will release remains to be seen. It also remains to be seen what Hemsworth will look like as the character, although filming should begin soon, fans shouldn’t have to wait very long.
