Phoenix (3TV/CBS 5) — Arizona is no stranger to foodies, with a handful of restaurants honored for their culinary creations. Four of his restaurants in Grand Canyon State have been featured on Yelp’s annual list of the nation’s Top 100 Places to Eat this year. Rounding out the top 10 in eighth place is his Tumerico from Tucson. The restaurant offers Latin-influenced vegan and vegetarian cuisine and serves favorites such as Hubos his Rancheros and Pastor’s tacos. Yelpers also highlighted his bar for breakfast burritos and delicious salsa.
Coming in at number 26 on the list is Buendia Breakfast & Lunch Cafe, also in Tucson. According to Yelp, chef-owners Julio and Jael Garcia have a huge helping of home-cooked Mexican food that some reviewers call the best brunch in town. Our guests loved the chilaquiles divolciados and the breakfast poblano pepper stuffed dish.
A restaurant in the Valley ended up at number 39 on the list, with Scottsdale’s De Babel making the cut. Marwan Kandeel has lived in Jordan and Dubai and brought Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine to Arizona. Popular dishes include homemade pita paired with hummus and mezza platters. Yelpers recognized the spot for its authenticity.
Foodies may recognize number 57 on the list, Cosina Madrigal in South Phoenix. It was number one on last year’s list and earned a guest spot on The Kelly Clarkson Show. This Mexican restaurant has been in business since his 2018 and has more than 2,500 of his 5-star reviews. Yelpers loved the family run restaurant’s service, beef his tenderloin tacos and crispy salmon.
For the rest of the list, Broken Mouth, a Hawaiian-Korean cafe in Los Angeles, takes the top spot. There are 28 restaurants in California, and five of them are in the top 10. Second highest was Florida where he had 14 and third highest was Texas where he had 8. Nevada and Arizona rounded out the top five. Yelp bases its listings on input from online reviewers.
