music: “Intimate Voice”
Two trios of musicians from the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and the orchestra’s resident Quappaw Quartet will perform in the orchestra’s second edition 2022-23. River Rhapsodys Chamber Music ConcertTuesday at 7 p.m., Great Hall of the Clinton Presidential Center, 1200 President Clinton Avenue, Little Rock.
Timothy Macduff, viola; Lianna Renfro, oboe; Hesin Singh on piano plays August Kurhardt’s “Sylfrieder” op.28. Violin Geoffrey Robson. David Gerstein, cello; Hee-Kyung Juhn, piano, plays Erich Korngold’s “Trio” in D major. The Quappaw Quartet (Meredith Maddox Hicks with Charlotte Crosmer (violin), Macduff (viola), Chava Appiah (cello)) performed the “String Quartet” in D minor op.56, “Voces Intimae” ( Intimate Voices”). QQA (formerly Quapaw Quarter Association) Greater Little Rock Preservation Award The Annual Membership Meeting is held on Wednesdays at 6:00 pm in Morrison Hall, Trinity Episcopal Cathedral on West 17th and Spring Streets in Little Rock. A reception will be held at 5:30 PM prior to the meeting. Karen and Philip Martin will host the next presentation.
◼️The Richard Butler Lifetime Achievement Award went to these Little Rock Rehab projects. Oyster Bar, 3003 W. Markham Street. Karcher House, 501 E. Seventh Street. 912 N. Palm Street; 111 Johnson St. (annex); and in the South Main neighborhood, Imperial Laundry (1501 S. Main St.) and Jones Laundry/The Nest (112 W. Daisy Bates Drive).
◼️ Jimmy Strawn Award to Kelly McCoy for Stewardship and Restoration of Taborian Hall/Dreamland Ballroom. Created in 1980, the award recognizes individuals who have contributed to the preservation of Little His Rock’s architectural heritage and inspired the entire community.
◼️ The Peg Smith Award goes to Brian Host for saving the Taber Patterson mansion at 1624 Louisiana Street. This award, also founded by him in 1980, is given to QQA members whose volunteer work in the association’s projects and programs has been “particularly exemplary”. to the news release.
