Hawaii County Mayor Mitch Ross invites community members to walk and chat at the next Hoody Trek event on Friday.
A 10:30-11:30 AM walk and talk with Ross along the Hilo Bayfront Trail. These monthly events aim to encourage a healthy lifestyle while giving people the chance to chat with the mayor about all things Big Island.
The Moʻoheau Bandstand parking lot will also feature various food truck vendors from 4-7pm. The community is encouraged to show support for Big Island food truck vendors by stopping by for a snack.
“Our goal from the beginning has been access and transparency, and we hope to achieve that by coming out and talking to the community,” Roth said in a press release. , talking and enjoying Ono cuisine is a great way to build a healthy and sustainable Big Island for generations to come.”
Friday’s walk also kicks off the Island of Hawaii Chef Challenge. Details will be announced later.
The Hoody Trek event is made possible by the Hawaii Institute of Public Health, Blue Zone Project, Healthy Eating Active Living, Hilo Bayfront Trails, and Hawaii County.
