UPDATE: ROCKFORD (WREX) — A 22-year-old man was shot dead Saturday afternoon in Rockford.
The man was shot around 12:20 p.m. Saturday at the Auburn Manor apartment building on the 4200 block of Auburn Street.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the 22-year-old girl suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after 1pm after being given life support.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, according to the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office.
Rockford Police continue to investigate the shooting.

ROCKFORD (WREX) — A man suffered life-threatening injuries after a shooting in Rockford Saturday afternoon, police say.
Rockford Police tweeted shortly before 2pm that officers were investigating a shooting at the Auburn Manor Apartments on Auburn Street.
A man was shot in the incident, police said. Male injuries are considered life-threatening.
Police have not disclosed whether any arrests have been made.
Officers are asking the public to continue to avoid the area as they investigate what happened.
