Update (8:00 am) – The Iowa City Police Department reports that one man was killed in an overnight shooting in downtown Iowa.
According to information released Sunday morning, officers were called to 220 S. Van Buren Street for a shooting that occurred in an alleyway behind H Bar. When the officers got there, they found a man with a gunshot wound.
The man was taken to a local hospital but died of his injuries.
Anyone with information should contact the Iowa Police Department. The Iowa City Area Crime Stoppers are offering his $1,000 bounty for information leading to an arrest in this case.
City of Iowa, Iowa (KWWL) – The Iowa City Police Department is investigating an isolated shooting overnight a block away from College Green Park.
Around 2 a.m. Sunday, a Hawk Alert was sent out by the University of Iowa with reports of a shot being fired near the intersection of Van Buren and College Streets. I told my students to stay away from the area.
No arrests have been made at this time, and police said they would remain vigilant. I can’t say anything about injuries.
