Huntsville, Utah — A Utah teenager with an inspiring story is the star skier in this year’s Warren Miller film.
The film is titled ‘Daymaker’ and will premiere on Wednesday. Miller himself passed away in his early 2000s, but his name lives on through his annual releases.
For the first time in over 70 years, the crew this year asked for nominations for a local skier or snowboarder to appear in the film.
Among hundreds of nominees, 16-year-old Tyler Blocker from Mountain Green, Morgan County was selected to be part of the film, competing against legendary skiers in Snowbasin last year.
“I had no idea that the whole crew would go skiing for the next 10 days,” he said. “[With] Jonny Moseley and Marcus Caston for showing us around Snowbasin. good. “
It was also an opportunity for Snowbasin Resort to showcase.
“We are the only Utah resort to appear in this movie. For us, a chance to represent our state and put Utah on the map, Tyler is the best ambassador we could ask for at Snow Basin.” “Just a good, humble kid with a great story.”
Blocker has an amazing backstory. Two years ago he had a pretty bad accident on the slopes that caused internal bleeding and a ruptured spleen.
A few weeks later he was already back on the snow.
“By the time I was fully recovered, I was skiing at 100%. Knowing that I was too weak to even walk a week or so ago was very It was amazing,” Blocker said. “Additionally, skiing the next season, it was quite amazing that he reached Warren Miller within a year.”
He said he wanted to remind others that all of this is a dream come true and hard work pays off.
Blocker will be attending a live screening of Daymaker in Ogden on Thursday.
“I’m still a little shocked,” he said.
